Mark 8:11-13
And the Pharisees came forth and began to question with him, asking him a sign from heaven, tempting him. And sighing deeply in spirit, he saith: Why doth this generation seek a sign? Amen, I say to you, a sign shall not be given to this generation. And leaving them, he went up again into the ship and passed to the other side of the water.
The Pharisees demanded a sign, yet they failed to recognize the signs already before them. Jesus’ response reminds us that faith cannot be built solely on extraordinary proofs. God often reveals Himself through ordinary experiences, Scripture, prayer, and acts of love. This Gospel challenges us to be attentive to His presence rather than constantly seeking dramatic evidence. A grateful and open heart recognizes God’s work even in small moments. Faith grows when we trust Him daily, not only when miracles occur.
