Mark 12:35-37

And Jesus answering, said, teaching in the temple: How do the scribes say that Christ is the son of David? For David himself saith by the Holy Ghost: The Lord said to my Lord: Sit on my right hand, until I make thy enemies thy footstool. David therefore himself calleth him Lord. And whence is he then his son? And a great multitude heard him gladly.

Jesus challenges limited expectations about the Messiah by revealing a deeper understanding of His identity. Faith requires openness to God’s truth, even when it stretches our assumptions. We can sometimes place God within the boundaries of our own expectations rather than allowing Him to reveal Himself fully. This Gospel invites us to approach Christ with humility and wonder. As we deepen our understanding of who Jesus is, our faith grows stronger and our relationship with Him becomes more meaningful.
