John 12:24-26
Amen, amen, I say to you, unless the grain of wheat falling into the ground die, Itself remaineth alone. But if it die it bringeth forth much fruit. He that loveth his life shall lose it and he that hateth his life in this world keepeth it unto life eternal. If any man minister to me, let him follow me: and where I am, there also shall my minister be. If any man minister to me, him will my Father honour.
Jesus uses the image of a grain of wheat to teach that new life often comes through sacrifice. His own death will bring salvation to the world, and His followers are called to embrace the same spirit of self-giving love. This Gospel reminds us that growth and transformation frequently require letting go of selfish desires. When we place our lives in God’s hands, He brings forth abundant fruit. Christian discipleship involves trusting that every act of generosity, service, and sacrifice has eternal value in God’s Kingdom.
