Luke 11:27-28
And it came to pass, as he spoke these things, a certain woman from the crowd, lifting up her voice, said to him: Blessed is the womb that bore thee and the paps that gave thee suck. But he said: Yea rather, blessed are they who hear the word of God and keep it.
A woman praises Jesus’ mother, but He points to an even greater blessing: hearing and obeying God’s word. Mary herself is the perfect example of this truth because she listened to God and responded with faith. This Gospel reminds us that discipleship is rooted in attentiveness and obedience. We encounter God not only through extraordinary experiences but through faithful response to His word. As we listen to Scripture and put it into practice, we grow closer to Christ and become more effective witnesses of His love.
