Luke 8:19-21
And his mother and brethren came unto him: and they could not come at him for the crowd. And it was told him: Thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to see thee. Who answering, said to them: My mother and my brethren are they who hear the word of God and do it.
Jesus teaches that true family relationships are rooted in obedience to God’s word. While honoring His earthly family, He expands the meaning of family to include all who hear and follow God’s will. This Gospel reminds us that faith creates a spiritual bond that unites believers. We belong to a community of disciples called to encourage and support one another. By living according to God’s word, we become members of Christ’s family.
