This Novena for the Holy Souls in Purgatory is offered in charity for the faithful departed who are being purified before entering the fullness of heaven. As members of the Communion of Saints, we pray that God, in His infinite mercy, may grant them the joy of eternal life. This novena also reminds us to live holy lives, trusting in God’s mercy and preparing our own hearts for the day we are called home.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Heavenly Father,
You are rich in mercy and faithful to all Your promises. In Your great love, You desire that all who die in Your friendship may one day behold You face to face in the glory of heaven.
Today I offer this novena for the Holy Souls in Purgatory, especially for those who have no one to pray for them.

Day 1 – Remembering the Faithful Departed
Merciful Father,
You created every soul for eternal life. Today I remember all the faithful departed who have gone before us marked with the sign of faith.

Day 2 – Trusting in God’s Mercy
Lord Jesus,
You died and rose again so that all who believe in You might have eternal life. May the souls in Purgatory experience the fullness of Your mercy.

Day 3 – Praying for Forgotten Souls
Compassionate Lord,
Today I pray especially for those souls who have no one to remember them in prayer. May they never be forgotten before Your loving heart.

Heavenly Father,
Receive into Your loving embrace our departed parents, grandparents, relatives, friends, benefactors, and all those who have touched our lives.

Merciful Savior,
Today I pray for those who died suddenly through accidents, disasters, violence, illness, or war. May they rest securely in Your peace.

Good Shepherd,
Today I remember bishops, priests, deacons, religious sisters, brothers, missionaries, and all who dedicated their lives to serving Your Church.

Day 7 – Offering My Sacrifices
Loving Father,
Accept my prayers, sacrifices, acts of charity, and participation in the Holy Eucharist for the benefit of the Holy Souls. May these offerings, united with Christ’s perfect sacrifice, assist them according to Your loving will.

Day 8 – Hope in the Resurrection
Risen Lord,
You conquered death and opened the gates of heaven. Strengthen my hope in the resurrection and remind me that death is not the end but the beginning of eternal life with You.

Day 9 – Longing for Heaven
Heavenly Father,
Today I entrust all the Holy Souls to Your infinite mercy. May they soon behold the glory of Your face and rejoice forever among the saints. Help me also to live faithfully each day so that, when my earthly life is complete, I too may enter Your eternal Kingdom through Your mercy.

Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the gift of eternal life promised through Your Son, Jesus Christ. We commend to Your mercy all the faithful departed, trusting that Your love is greater than every human weakness.
Purify the Holy Souls in Purgatory and welcome them into the eternal joy of heaven, where they may praise You forever with all the angels and saints.
Comfort those who mourn the loss of loved ones. Strengthen our faith in the resurrection and help us live each day with hope, charity, and faithful devotion to You.
May our prayers, sacrifices, and works of mercy be pleasing in Your sight and, according to Your holy will, bring comfort to the souls awaiting the fullness of heavenly glory.
Through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Our Lady of Sorrows, Saint Joseph, Patron of a Happy Death, and Saint Gertrude the Great, who had a special devotion to the Holy Souls, may all the faithful departed soon rejoice in Your everlasting presence.
